For me officiating a funeral service is one of the biggest privileges I have ever known. I count myself lucky to work within the funeral industry as it is the most rewarding role I could have ever imagined.

I have officiated more than 400 funeral services and I can honestly say each one has been different. It is so fulfilling being able to tell the story of so many wonderful people whist paying tribute to them in a way that leaves their family feeling soothed and comforted.

I'm an Independent Celebrant rather than a Humanist Celebrant, so if you would like to include any religious or spiritual content then that is completely fine with me.

There is no right or wrong way to say goodbye to a loved one. These days many people choose to opt for a direct cremation, However that doesn't mean that we cannot still gather to pay tribute to the person that we miss so much.  

Opting for a separate memorial service offers a alternative way to celebrate the life of your loved one in comfortable surroundings and can be less traumatic than a traditional funeral service.

It can be a time to be creative about how you want to pay tribute, you may want to gather and share your favourite memories, listen to music that brings back special moments or partake in a ritual like planting a tree or scattering ashes. It really is completely up to you.

In British culture we often wait until it's too late to tell our loved ones just what they mean to us, and people often reflect after the death of somebody that we love, upon how much they wish their loved ones could have heard the wonderful things said about them after their death. 

We have seen a rise in individuals who want to take control of their own destiny by hosting their own living wake, particularly from those who may have received a terminal diagnosis. 

We simply gather everybody who means somebody to you so that we can look back and reflect on your life and celebrate just what an impact you have made and take the time to properly tell those we love, just what they mean to us.
